Insuring Hydroelectricity

Insuring Hydroelectricity

In a hydroelectric power plant, part of the insurance covers construction and civil engineering, another covers industrial processes (electrical turbines), and another covers special risks (that is to say all that is not covered in standard contracts).

To marry all these characteristics, we have developed an ultra-specialized audit questionnaire as well as custom contract wording.

The goal: to completely adapt our contract to the specific and highly variable realities of each hydroelectric power plant.

Investments in hydroelectricity: specific insurance challenges

We work with investors in and owners of hydroelectric power plants and other mills, for existing plants as well as new ones. For existing plants, our auditing process analyses the importance of renovation of the power plant and evaluates the maintenance contracts of hydroelectric plant element manufacturers (turbines, wheels, screens, etc.) allowing us to very precisely adjust and optimize the insurance program to include only that which is required of the insurer.

Thus the investor has the certainty that they will avoid redundancies as well as holes in coverage, between the maintenance contract and insurance contract. All at a price that is perfectly adapted to their situation.
